I’m Beginning to Tolerate Football

It’s no secret that I’m not a big football fan, but after spending Saturday night watching the 49ers beat the Packers with two die hard niners fans, I must admit that I was sucked into the excitement. I mean, look at these guys.

We started off the night with brewskis, taco dip, and spinach dip. Soon enough, we ordered pizza from Crispy Basil. This pizza is delicious. Apparently there is an option to order the pizzas as “Take’N Bake” and cook them in the comfort of your own home. This sounds good in theory; fresh baked pizza without the hassle. But what happens, pray tell, when the hassle you end up with is more than you bargained for? They advise to bake the pizzas on cardboard, which seemed like a red flag to begin with since you’re putting flammable material in an oven, but that’s neither here no there. As it turns out, they don’t recommend baking two pizzas at once, which we found out the hard way. One of the three ended up with a crisp black crust, and the room was filled with smoke. It was nothing a little window opening couldn’t fix, but let’s just say pizza might be ordered fully cooked from here on out. Regardless, a little scorched crust ain’t gonna ruin the night! We continued to eat and drink and watch the game. The fact that the niners were winning helped ease the pain of the pizza, too.

The above brownies were made by Betty Alexis Crocker. She followed The Pioneer Woman’s “Knock You Naked Brownies”Β and I don’t even know how to begin describing how delicious these were. Make them if you can, and try not to eat the whole pan.

My sister, Nicole, and her BFF, Alexis

Obviously superstitions are not uncommon among football fans, and Paulie & Vin were no exception. My sister’s friend, Erica, happened to take a seat on the floor. Unfortunately for her, this meant she was fated to the floor for the remainder of the evening and was scolded any time she moved. The guys may be on to something, though; every time she did switch seats, the Packers scored.

It was a really fun night. Honestly, their excitement was just contagious. I couldn’t help but get nervous and pumped for the game along with them. Per Paulie’s requirements, we will all be watching together at their house again next Sunday. New time, same seats.
